Houston SPCA Seizes Two Emaciated Horses In Conroe

No arrests have been made yet, but charges could be filed later pending the outcome of the investigation, officials said.

CONROE, TX -- Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Livestock Unit seized two emaciated horses from remote area in Conroe Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies originally began investigating a site on Coaltown Road in November after they were notified about the health of the horses.

When investigators went back for a follow up visit on the horse, investigators could not find them, and suspected they were being hidden.

For more than two months, livestock unit investigators and the Houston SPCA looked for the animals, and received several tips that the horses were being kept at a site in the 200 block of Eastwood Drive.

Investigators arrived and found the horses in worse shape than they were previously in November.

The horses were turned over to the care of Houston SPCA, and possible charges of animal neglect and animal cruelty could be filed against the owner.
