Jim Holley Named New Caney ISD AD, Billy Russell New Porter HFC
Holley will pass the mantle of head football coach for the Spartans to Russell, who had been the offensive coordinator since 2016.
NEW CANEY — Porter head football coach Jim Holley has been approved as New Caney ISD athletic director, and offensive coordinator Billy Russell has been promoted to fill the vacant head coaching position, the New Caney Board of Trustees announced in a news release.
Holley replaces Brent Sipe, who retired after 29 years in education, including eight at New Caney ISD.
In Holley's five seasons as head coach, the Spartans went 35-19 and made four playoff appearances. Porter advanced to the area round in 2019 but didn't make the playoffs last season.

Russell, a New Caney High School graduate, joined Holley's staff as offensive coordinator when Holley took over at Porter in 2016.
