The FBI and the Houston Police Department conducted a raid on a home in the 7300 block of Elbert Street, in the Trinity Gardens area at about 4:30 am Thursday.
As agents entered the home, they reportedly exchanged gunfire with someone inside, and the kidnapping victim was shot in the exchange, officials said.
He died a short time later at LBJ Hospital.
The FBI agent has been placed on adminitrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation,
Both the FBI and the Houston Police are investigating the shooting
Montgomery District Attorney Brett Ligon said all of those involved would be booked into the Montgomery County Jail Thursday night.
Ligon said even though the shooting took place in Houston, justice will be handled in Montgomery County.
"We are just happy to bring the defendants back to Montgomery County," Ligon said. "We anticipate seeking a no bond for these incidents."
The aggravated kidnapping charge is a first degee felony, which carries a sentence of 5-99 years, and there is a possibility that felony murder charges could be added to the list of charges and filed as well against all three, Ligon said.
"The kidnappers put this into play, and so they are ultimately responsible for the outcome," he said. "Those are discussions we will get to later on. We don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves on this."
Booking information on the three kidnappers will be released Friday morning.
