Local Candidates Assured Of Contested Races In 2018
Candidates in the county judges race, and congress make for an active political season in Montgomery County.

CONROE, TX — The period for candidates for file for local, state and national political office ended Monday and the races in Montgomery County will be interesting on the local, state and national level.
Among those is the county judge’s race, with incumbent Craig Doyal drawing challenges from State Rep. Mark Keough (R-The Woodlands) for the Republican nomination, and Democrat Jay Stittleburg.
Keough, who was elected to represent District 15 in 2014, said he won’t be seeking reelection, and looks forward to challenging Doyal, who won his seat 2014 after serving several years as the county commissioner for Precinct 2 in Montgomery County.

The winner of the March primary will face Stittleburg in the general election in November.
But Keough isn’t the only state representative lobbying Montgomery County voters for a different office.

State Rep. Kevin Roberts (R-Spring), who won his first election in 2016 to represent District 126, announced his candidacy to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Ted Poe.
Roberts announcement last month was followed by declarations by local businessman Rick Walker, and attorney Jonny Havens who are both seeking the Republican nod.
U.S. Rep. Kevin Brady, who can now hang the successful passage of his tax reform bill on his resume, has served the residents of District 8 for 21 years.
He won’t have to worry about a Republican challenger in March, but Brady will face a Democratic challenger in the general election.
Tomball resident Steven David will challenge Brady for his seat, and a chance to represent District 8 residents.
David works as a business and efficiency expert for the city of Houston, and is a seventh generation Texan.
