Magnolia Teen Killed In Rollover Crash

Witnesses reported that Erik Venegas was driving his Chevy Tahoe at a high rate of speed when he lost control and ran off the road.

MAGNOLIA, TX — A Montgomery County family is in mourning after an 18-year old family member was killed in a traffic accident Monday night.

The crash was reported at about 9 p.m. on State Highway 249 north, between Tomball and Magnolia.

Investigators said that Erik Venegas was killed when he lost control of his Chevrolet Tahoe as he traveled north on State Highway 249 after meeting with friends.

Witnesses told investigators that Venegas was driving at a high rate of speed when he lost control and rolled the SUV several times, KTRK reported.

The northbound lanes were clearly marked with warning signs that indicated that the left lane ends and drivers needed to merge right, but investigators said Venegas didn’t merge and ran off the road.

A trauma nurse who saw the accident, pulled over to help and found Venegas dead when she pulled him from the mangled SUV, according to the Montgomery County Police Reporter

The accident closed parts of northbound 249 down for several hours while DPS troopers conducted their investigation.

Meanwhile, an autopsy has been ordered and is being conducted at the Montgomery County Forensic Center.
