Man In Underwear Killed During Cypress Home Invasion

CYPRESS, TX — Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating the shooting death of a man who broke into a home dressed only in his underwear.

The shooting happened shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday, in the 19200 block of Juergen Road in Cypress .

Investigators said the homeowner, 53-year old Lorenzo Martinez, was the first one to encounter the intruder, who began attacking him, according to a KPRC report.

The intruder then hit Martinez’s wife, 53-year old Gloria Martinez.

The couple’s 25-year old son came out to defend his parents, when the intruder picked up a 60-inch flat screen TV and hit him, according to various media reports.

The intruder started down the hallway where several children were sleeping, and was shot by the couple’s son-in-law as he kicked in a bedroom door, police said.

The homeowner, his wife, and son suffered cuts and bruises from the attack, KHOU reported.

The couple’s daughter, who does not live in the home, said the family has never seen the man and has no idea why he broke and began assaulting family members, but believes the man may have been on some sort of narcotic.

The intruder, who had no identification, is described as a black man, in his 20s or 30s

Investigators did find a car parked a half mile from the home, but are unsure if it belongs to the intruder.

The case is under investigation.
