Meet Your New Conroe-Montgomery County Reporter

Hello!

My name is Jeff Perkins, and I am the new reporter/editor for the Conroe-Montgomery County Patch. I can’t wait to get started and deliver local news that matters to you.

Here are a few things to get to know me better. I’m a native Texan, born in San Antonio, but I grew up in Russellville, Arkansas. I got back to the Lone Star State as soon as I could and attended Texas A&M University (Gig ’em!), where I majored in Telecommunication Media Studies and earned a minor in Journalism. I spent most of the last seven years working as a sports writer and editor for The Eagle in Bryan. I covered the high school sports beat in the Brazos Valley, and through district and playoff games, I’ve already crossed paths with several schools and teams in Montgomery County.

I will be covering all manner of local news, but I hope to use my roots in high school sports to make coverage of the local teams a key part of the Conroe-Montgomery County Patch moving forward.

When I’m not writing and reporting, I love to experiment with new recipes and flavors in the kitchen. Cooking is a shared passion I have with my wife, and I also enjoy baking breads and desserts. I’m an avid sports fan, and I enjoy playing video games or watching Star Wars or Marvel movies in my down time.
