Montgomery County Courthouse Evacuated After Receiving Bomb Threat

(Update) CONROE, TX — Law enforcement officials have given the all clear signal after the Montgomery County Courthouse was evacuated early Thursday after someone called 911 to report a pipe bomb inside the courthouse, officials said.

Officials with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said the call came in at about 8:30 a.m., and reported that someone had a pipe bomb in district court, according to a Houston Chronicle report.

Deputies evacuated courthouse personnel from the building shortly after receiving the threat, according to KTRK. (Want to get daily updates about news and other events going on in your area? Sign up for the free Houston Patch morning newsletter.)

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Montgomery County Fire Marshal Office's Bomb Squad Unit are conducting a search of the building and gathering information.

Officials have not said if a device has been found inside the courthouse.

The Conroe Police Department and the Montgomery County Office of Emergency management are also helping with the investigation, the Houston Chronicle reports.
