Montgomery County Fire Kills 3 Children, Injures 7 Others

Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that killed 3 children, and injured 7 others, including 3 police officers.

CONROE, TX — An early morning fire claimed the lives of three Montgomery County children, and injured seven others who were trying to escape the flames and save those children trapped in the burning home.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 19000 block of Johnson Road, near Tamina Road shortly after 4 a.m. Friday morning.

Three police officers arrived at the fire scene first, and went into the burning home to rescue the three children trapped inside, and were injured, according to a KHOU report.


The officers were treated for smoke inhalation.

Initial reports indicated the children were missing, but officials later confirmed they died in the fire.

Officials believe the fire started in the back of the home, and quickly spread to two neighboring homes, according to a KTRK report.

The house where the fire started, collapsed.

A 10-year old child who was inside the home was badly burned and is listed in critical condition.

The children’s father was also badly burned and is also listed in critical condition.

According to a KPRC report, the children’s grandmother suffered cuts and is being treated at Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands, and the children’s grandfather was injured and is in critical condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
