Montgomery Man Charged With Animal Cruelty
Rolf Meier is accused of shooting a dog owned by his next-door neighbors. The dog died as a result of a gunshot wound.

MONTGOMERY, TX — Montgomery County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Rolf Meier on a charge of third-degree felony animal cruelty Friday, according to a news release.
Meier, 76, is accused of shooting a Black Labrador retriever owned by his neighbors on the 15000 block of Queen Elizabeth Court in Montgomery on March 10, authorities said.
The pet owner and another witness told authorities they heard what sounded like a gunshot and found the dog lying in the owner's driveway with a gunshot wound. The dog died as the owner was preparing to take it to a veterinarian.

Meier reportedly admitted to shooting the dog to the owner and later told deputies the same thing, according to the release.
After a necropsy at Texas A&M Veterinary Laboratory confirmed the cause of death, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office secured an arrest warrant and made the arrest Friday.
