New Caney Man Arrested at Chop Shop

Tip led Montgomery County Constable's to chop shop in New Caney

NEW CANEY, TX -- A 45-year old man is behind bars after a tip to law enforcement officers led to the discovery of a chop shop in Montgomery County.

Tarrell Nowlin, 45, as arrested on Jan. 24, in the 22700 block of Cox Street in New Caney after a woman called Montgomery County Constable Pct. 4 Constable Kenneth "Rowdy" Hayden and alerted him to the chop shop.

According to a press release, deputies saw a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe leaving the address and stopped the vehicle.

Nowlin, who was driving the Tahoe, allegedly told deputies that the vehicle was given to him by a friend and that he was cutting it up to sell for scrap.

Deputies searched the vehicle and found methamphetamine in the vehicle Nowlin was driving.

A check of the VIN revealed the vehicle was reported stolen in Harris County on Jan. 16.

Nowlin was arrested and charged possession of a controlled substance and theft of a motor vehicle.

His bond is set at $3,000.
