Softball Roundup: Lake Creek Claims Outright District 20-5A Title
Ava Brown hit a home run, struck out 11 hitters and helped throw a no-hitter in the win over Porter. The Lions have won 29 in a row.
PORTER — Lake Creek blasted three home runs, and sophomore Ava Brown racked up 11 strikeouts to lead the Lady Lions to a 14-0, five-inning victory over Porter on Friday night.
Third-ranked Lake Creek (29-0, 12-0) clinched the outright District 20-5A championship and is two games away from a perfect regular season.
Brown and junior Brenna Kelly combined for a no-hitter and allowed just one walk. Brown went 3 for 3 with a home run, two doubles and two runs batted in, and sophomore Maddie McKee went 4 for 4 with a double and three stolen bases. Sophomores Shelby Winn and Kalee Rochinski each hit a home run, and Winn and seniors Jenny Robison and Emiley Kennedy each had two hits.

For Porter (7-17, 4-8), senior Anna Juneau broke up the perfect game with a walk in the fifth inning.

Lake Creek will host Cleveland on Tuesday, and Porter is at Montgomery. Both games start at 6:15 p.m.

Oak Ridge claims lead in District 13-6A
With two games left in the regular season, the Lady War Eagles (17-5, 7-1) are in prime position for a district title.
Oak Ridge overcame an 8-6 deficit with three runs in the top of the sixth inning and went on to a 10-8 victory over Willis, reported the Conroe Courier. The win gives the Lady War Eagles sole possession of the lead in 13-6A and a season sweep of the Ladykats (15-10, 6-2).
Oak Ridge will play at College Park at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, while Willis will play at Grand Oaks.
Magnolia West drops first game in District 19-5A
The 18th-ranked Lady Mustangs (22-4, 11-1) held a 5-4 lead late, but A&M Consolidated rallied with a bases-loaded triple in the sixth and went on to claim a 9-6 win.
The loss snapped a 14-game win streak for Magnolia West, which still holds a one-game lead over Waller atop the 19-5A standings. The Lady Mustangs will host Magnolia for a rivalry matchup at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
