Splendora's White Named Region 6 Counselor Of The Year

SPLENDORA, TX — Kathy White has been named the Education Service Center Region 6 Middle School/Junior High Counselor of the Year, according to a news release.

White, a counselor at Splendora Junior High School, was presented with a plaque at Splendora Independent School District's convocation event Tuesday. She was nominated by Splendora ISD Lead Counselor Loydette Youngblood and Splendora Junior High Principal Kent Broussard.

Region 6 contains 54 school districts and nine charter schools in 15 counties: Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Leon, Madison, Milam, Montgomery, Polk, Robertson, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker and Washington.

Broussard lauded White's genuine attitude and eagerness to help both students and staff in her role as counselor. Broussard said she does an excellent job with the district's Social Emotional Learning program as well as scheduling and student of the month, and she exhibits a great amount of care and concern for her students.

"I am extremely proud of Kathy and the knowledge and support she provides for our students, families, and staff," Youngblood said. "Her empathy, experience, and concern for our Wildcat family show in everything she does. She truly takes extreme ownership and always goes the extra mile."

White has 30 years of experience in education, including 25 years as a counselor. She has worked at Splendora ISD for three years and was with Livingston ISD before that.
