Three Men Arrested For Attempted Robbery Of An Off-Duty Sheriff’s Deputy And His Wife

CONROE, TX -- Three men have been arrested for attacking an off-duty Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputy and his wife at a Porter supermarket on Dec. 10.

Police arrested a 16-year old boy on Dec. 16, and arrested Michael Gene Jones, 17, and Israel Treqwaun Hunter, 19. on Dec. 22, and charged all three with aggravated robbery.

According to police, the deputy and his wife were at the Summerhill Food Mart in the 24200 block of Sorters Road in Porter on Dec. 10 when two people ran up and hit the deputy in the head.

The deputy’s wife heard the commotion, grabbed her gun and fired at the attackers.

The deputy was able to pull his weapon and also began firing at the two men, who ran to a Chevrolet pickup parked nearby with a third man, and sped away.

None of the suspects were injured.

Police said they were unsure how many shots were fired, but there were shell casings scattered on the parking lot.

Investigators were able to identify the three men from surveillance video at the store and make the arrests.
