Warning: Razor Blades Found In Huntsville, Texas Playground Slide

An inspection revealed something horrifying: razor blades embedded into a slide in a Huntsville playground.

HUNTSVILLE, TX -- An equipment inspection on July 6 revealed something despicable: razor blades embedded into a slide in a Huntsville playground. Cameras are now being installed to identify those responsible in future incidents.

The city said a heating device was used to melt the portions of the slides, made of plastic, allowing for the criminal to embed razor blades into the slide in this horrifying crime.

"Whoever did that, I hope you don't do it again," said 8-year-old Ariana Fair, according to Click 2 Houston. "If you were going head first it could cut your arm or your chest and how would that be? That would be very, very bad," she said.

A recent city ordinance pushing back on smoking disallows for smoking around playgrounds, meaning there is no reason for people to have lighters or other such devices around parks and playgrounds.

"City parks are for the safe enjoyment of all citizens," the Huntsville city website said. "Please help us identify anyone damaging playground equipment, especially those using an open flame or acting suspiciously. Injury to a child is a third-degree felony charge."

"With the recent passage of the smoking restrictions ordinance, there should be no reason for anyone to have a lighter or any type of open flame device in use in a city park," the Huntsville website says.

Young children are aware of the heinous nature of the crime. Ten-year-old Hanna Collingsworth said "it's actually pretty scary that people would try to put razor blades and harm children," Click 2 Houston reported.
