Weekend Fire Prompts Warning From Oak Ridge North Police Chief
Chief Andrew Waters took to Facebook to reinforce fire safety and warn residents to be careful during the holiday season.

OAK RIDGE NORTH, TX — A fire that tore through a garage in Oak Ridge North on Nov. 24 prompted Oak Ridge North Police Chief Andrew Waters to take to the social media airwaves and reinforce fire safety during the holiday season.
The fire as reported at about 7:30 a.m., in the 100 block of Pine Manor Drive, and is believed to have started in one of the cars inside the garage.
The fire, which was quickly extinguished, could have overtaken and destroyed the home, and that was enough for Waters to send out a reminder to residents to be safe during the holidays, and have a safe place for important documents, like insurances policies.

Waters said the fire made him wonder where his insurance policy was, recalling that he may not have seen it since it was renewed, the Woodlands Villager reported.
"The fact that they have fireplaces and Christmas tree lights-that adds additional threat levels to their homes,"Waters told the Villager. "This time of year is prime time for these types of things. Even the [space] heaters when people don't get their heaters checked. They get pretty hot."
