17-Year Old Conroe Man Charged Intoxication Manslaughter, Intoxication Assault [UPDATE]

(Update) CONROE, TX -- A 17-year old Conroe man was charged with one count of intoxication manslaughter, and three counts of intoxication assault after he he lost control of his truck and crossed the center line on Honea Egypt Road Sunday morning, hitting a family of four head-on.

Jared Bruce was arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Jail on Sunday, where he was processed and released on bond.

The accident was reported at about 12:20 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Honea Egypt Road and Mills Run Road.

Investigators said Bruce was driving a 2004 Dodge with a steel flatbed westbound on Honea Egypt Road, and lost control as he rounded a curve and crossed the center line.

The car hit the corner of the bed of the truck, and seriously injured, the driver of the car, his wife who was in the front passenger seat, and the driver's 84-year old mother, who was in the backseat behind his wife.

The wife's mother, who was sitting behind the drivers seat, was killed instantly.

The other three passengers in the Lexus were taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition.

The 17-year old driver was taken to Conroe Regional Hospital in stable condition, and later arrested
