Copperas Cove to get a new Hobby Lobby and Academy Sports & Outdoors (kdhnews.com) — Copperas Cove residents can soon shop at new Hobby Lobby and Academy Sports & Outdoors stores planned near the Shops at Five Hills on Robert Griffin III Boulevard. The Planning & Zoning Commission just approved a replat for two 55,000-square-foot buildings with ample parking and a detention pond. City staff confirmed the retailers, which will significantly cut westbound travel for these chains.
2. Fallen Cove officer among those honored in Texas Brotherhood Ride (fox44news.com) — A fallen Copperas Cove police officer, Elijah Garretson, is among nine first responders honored in the weeklong Texas Brotherhood Ride, a 600-mile journey across the state. Local residents previously lined a procession route as Garretson's body traveled from Dallas to Temple and then to Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. The police department is publicly supporting the riders as they pay tribute to his service.
3. Scholar Athlete of the Week: Taylor Moosman (fox44news.com) — A standout Copperas Cove High School senior libero is excelling on the court while also ranking first in her class and already holding two associate degrees. She's eyeing medical school and a future in neurology, crediting volleyball and academics for teaching perseverance and analytical thinking. Her achievements highlight the strong academic and athletic culture in Copperas Cove.

Local families may be interested that Copperas Cove's approach to digital citizenship, SEL integration, and librarian roles is being highlighted as a model as districts across Texas rethink screen time, cybersecurity, and student wellness.
