• Fecal bacteria levels at popular Texas beaches after July rains (lmtonline.com) — Recent storm runoff has nearly filled Lake Corpus Christi and eased water restrictions, but it's also affecting bacteria levels at local beaches. Medium enterococcus readings were found at parts of Cole Park, Poenisch Park, and University Beach, while most other Corpus Christi Bay, Mustang Island, North Padre, and Port Aransas sites tested low. Before swimming, it's worth knowing exactly which spots show elevated levels.
   

• Two victims identified after fatal four-vehicle crash on Highway 361 (kiiitv.com) — A deadly four-vehicle crash on Highway 361 near Corpus Christi Fire Station 16 killed Roberto and Karen Lopez and shut down the highway for about three hours Friday afternoon. Corpus Christi police say their vehicle was rear-ended in a chain reaction crash, with two others hospitalized. The Marine Corps veteran couple, parents of six, were reportedly headed to pick up their son from school.
