1. Waterline work to reduce Flour Bluff Drive to one lane for three weeks (kiiitv.com) — Drivers in Flour Bluff should expect one lane on Flour Bluff Drive, from Don Patricio Road to Compton Road, to be closed for about three weeks starting Monday, Aug. 31, as crews install a new waterline. Sidewalks will also be affected, but access to nearby homes and businesses will stay open while the city upgrades its water system.
   

2. Del Mar College enrollment grows nearly 4% as Freedom to Dream program helps students pay for college (kiiitv.com) — Del Mar College in Corpus Christi is seeing nearly a 4% jump in fall 2026 enrollment, with more than 12,000 students now on campus. Leaders credit the Freedom to Dream 2.0 tuition waiver, which covers tuition and basic fees for qualifying in-district students, helping many attend college who otherwise might not have gone. The college is already exploring a third version of the program for 2027-28.
   

3. Hotel developer lawsuit against Corpus Christi settled for $450,000 (kristv.com) — Corpus Christi will pay $450,000 to settle a lawsuit with hotel developer Ajit David over a disputed economic development agreement tied to a downtown Homewood Suites project. City officials confirmed the settlement, which stems from a 2024 challenge to $2 million in Type B sales tax incentives.
   

4. Corpus Christi police clarify department has no ties to Flock camera system (kristv.com) — Corpus Christi police leaders told City Hall they do not own, use, or plan to contract with Flock camera systems, stressing they only operate the long-standing Vigilant license plate reader program. Any Flock data would only reach the department if shared by another entity, and officers say they have no access to Flock's database.
   

5. Corpus Christi teacher up for state Teacher of the Year award (caller.com subscription) — A Corpus Christi ISD kindergarten bilingual teacher, Denise Caldera of Galvan Elementary, is a finalist for the 2027 Texas Elementary Teacher of the Year award. With multiple degrees from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Del Mar College, she's recognized for mentoring new teachers and supporting migrant, homeless, and shelter-based students.
