Council to vote on extending La Palmera Mall tax deal to clear way for Dick's House of Sport (kristv.com) — Corpus Christi City Council is set to vote on extending La Palmera Mall's tax incentive deal by ten years to help demolish the former Macy's and bring in a Dick's House of Sport. The project would involve tens of millions in investment, add new retail space, and significantly boost visits, revenue, and jobs at one of Corpus Christi's key shopping hubs.

3. El Bolillo Bakery eyes Corpus Christi expansion that could bring more than 120 jobs to westside (kristv.com) — A Houston-based El Bolillo Bakery project could bring more than 120 new jobs and a $6 million investment to Corpus Christi's westside by converting a vacant Walgreens on Morgan Avenue. The plan depends on the city's Type B Corporation approving up to $363,000 in incentives for equipment and infrastructure, with operations targeted to begin in 2027.
4. Corpus Christi honoring native actress Farrah Fawcett with oceanside sculpture (star-telegram.com) — Corpus Christi is moving ahead with a seven-foot bronze sculpture of hometown actress Farrah Fawcett, approved by City Council and funded by Friends of Farrah Fawcett. The statue will stand along the seawall near the Art Center of Corpus Christi, celebrating her local roots and Hollywood career while adding a new piece of public art to the bayfront.
5. Coast Guard: Good Samaritan saves four after boat capsizes off Texas coast (kiiitv.com) — Four adults were safely rescued after their boat capsized near the mouth of the Colorado River, with a Good Samaritan and Coast Guard crews from Corpus Christi responding quickly. Officials say life jackets, a VHF radio, and coordinated agencies made the save possible, and they're urging Corpus Christi-area boaters to follow the same safety steps during Labor Day outings.
