Lipan Apache to host Veterans Powwow in Corpus Christi Sept. 19 (caller.com subscription) — Corpus Christi residents can join the Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas for a free Veterans Powwow on Sept. 19 at the Hilliard Center, running from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The gathering will honor all veterans, feature Native dance competitions, an American Indian Market, support services, and food vendors, with organizers expecting more than 5,000 attendees.

Here's how big Corpus Christi ISD schools are, how they've changed (caller.com subscription) — Several Corpus Christi ISD campuses have absorbed students from recently closed schools, but new enrollment data show no campuses are officially over capacity. Middle and elementary schools on the Southside and in growing neighborhoods are seeing the biggest jumps, while some older-area schools are shrinking, shaping future facility plans and the day-to-day experience for Corpus Christi students and parents.
3. Residents share how they're cutting back, while an economist links the spike to the prolonged war in Iran and warns that even a quick end wouldn't bring immediate relief to fuel and grocery costs.
4. Restaurants return oyster shells to restore Coastal Bend reefs (caller.com subscription) — Corpus Christi diners are helping restore nearby oyster reefs through the Sink Your Shucks program at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi's Harte Research Institute, which recycles shells from local restaurants. Volunteers have already helped rebuild reefs in nearby bays, and another hands-on restoration day at Goose Island State Park is set for Oct. 3, offering residents a chance to directly support local coastal habitats.
