  1. Dallas has a new city budget plan that proposes $1.2 million to reduce 911 wait times. The city manager plans to use those funds to hire an additional 44 call takers and 12 dispatchers. As of June 2021, just 55 percent of Dallas' 911 call center response times met the national standard of 10 seconds (the average answer time in Dallas is 33 seconds), which city officials believe is a result of understaffing and high turnover.   2. Yesterday, Parkland Hospital opened a new clinic at the former Red Bird mall site to expand its holistic healthcare offerings to southern Dallas. The 40,000-square-foot clinic is now the second-largest health care center in the Parkland system. It will offer primary care, family medicine, mammography, and simple radiology, as well as child psychiatry and physical rehabilitation center. (The Dallas Morning News)
  3. A pickup truck hit and killed a person in the roadway near Dallas Love Field Airport early Tuesday morning. (WFAA.com)
  4. Officers responded to a shooting on Monday morning at the Flamingo Apartments in the Dallas Oak Lawn neighborhood, where Justin Wayne Dixon, 30, was pronounced dead of a gunshot wound on the scene. (WFAA.com)
  5. The Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance believes homelessness will change in Dallas County following the Sept. 1 ban on camping in public spaces. (Star Local Media)
