A warm and breezy weekend in North Texas will likely give way to stormy weather early next week.

The National Weather Service Fort Worth/Dallas issued a bulletin about the forecast on Friday afternoon. According to the bulletin, there will be highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s this weekend.

There is a slight chance of thunderstorms across North Texas on Sunday evening, but most locations will remain dry.

That will change on Monday, when more widespread shower and thunderstorm activity is expected with a dryline. On Tuesday, a cold frontal will pass through the area.

Some strong to severe thunderstorms are possible each day. The specifics of timing and hazards will continue to be assessed in the coming days.

An unsettled weather pattern will remain in place during the second half of next week. While it will not be raining the entire time, there will be daily chances for additional showers and thunderstorms through Friday.

Temperatures will be near or below normal with highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s.

According to the United States Drought Monitor, the combination of recent rainfall and a seasonally wetter pattern supports caution optimism that additional drought improvement will occur through May, even if complete removal remains unlikely everywhere.

Dallas and Fort Worth are currently outside of the drought intensity index. Nearby Kaufman County is in a moderate drought; Waxahachie is between abnormally dry and moderate drought conditions; and Cleburn is mostly abnormally dry.
