Local Spectrum TV customers now have a new way to watch some of their favorite reality, lifestyle and documentary programs, thanks to a partnership between Spectrum and Warner Bros. Discovery. The companies announced that eligible Spectrum TV plans now include access to the ad-supported version of discovery+ at no additional charge.
This move gives viewers instant access to popular discovery+ shows, including “90 Day Fiancé,” “Gold Rush” and “Ghost Adventures,” along with content from networks like HGTV, Food Network, TLC, Investigation Discovery and Animal Planet. The ad-supported discovery+ app normally costs $5.99 per month.
Spectrum TV customers can activate their free discovery+ subscription through their account. Those who want to watch without ads can upgrade to the ad-free version for $4 per month. For customers who don’t have an eligible Spectrum TV plan, discovery+ and other streaming apps are also available for purchase through The Spectrum App Store.
The addition of discovery+ is part of Spectrum’s efforts to create a “Seamless Entertainment” experience for its TV customers. This approach brings together traditional live TV and popular streaming apps, aiming to simplify how people watch and manage their entertainment. According to Spectrum, eligible TV plans now include more than $125 per month in retail streaming value.
Beyond discovery+, other streaming apps included with qualifying Spectrum TV plans are the Disney+ Hulu Bundle, ESPN Unlimited, HBO Max Basic With Ads, Paramount+ Essential, Peacock Premium, AMC+, ViX, Tennis Channel and FOX One. Customers can activate and manage these apps through The Spectrum App Store and watch them with the Xumo Stream Box, an all-in-one device for live and on-demand TV.
Warner Bros. Discovery says the partnership is designed to make it easier for fans to access the programming they enjoy without juggling multiple subscriptions. In addition to reality and lifestyle programming, discovery+ offers original series, documentaries and adventure shows like “House Hunters,” “Chopped,” “1000-lb Sisters,” “Expedition Unknown” and “Planet Earth.”
For more information, Spectrum customers can visit the company’s website or log in to their account to see if their TV plan is eligible for discovery+ at no extra cost.
