Severe Storm Potential in North Texas on Tuesday

A line of thunderstorms along a cold front will push front north to south across North and Central Texas throughout the day on Tuesday.

The National Weather Service Fort Worth/Dallas issued a bulletin about the severe storm potential on Monday afternoon. According to the bulletin, isolated damaging wind gusts and hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter will be the primary hazards.

Residents should plan for interruptions to outdoor activities and make sure they have multiple ways of receiving warning information. Remember the motto, "When thunder roars, go indoors."

When it comes to the timing and coverage, most areas will see storms and rainfall, but not everyone will observe severe weather. The NWS put out a graphic that shows a rough timeline for when residents in certain areas should start paying attention to the weather.

For Graham, Sherman, Cisco, and the northern DFW Metroplex, residents should start paying attention at 8 a.m., with severe weather most likely between 10 a.m-2 p.m.

For the areas around Paris, Canton, and Waco, residents should start paying attention around 10 a.m., with the most likely severe activity taking place between 1-5 p.m.

Killeen and Palestine residents should start paying attention 3 p.m. and are most likely to see severe weather between 4-9 p.m.

According to the forecast, the heavy rain threat will continue through Friday, as several rounds of showers and storms are expected across North and Central Texas from Wednesday through at least the end of the work week.

The severe threat is low, but rounds of rainfall may increase the threat for localized flash flooding by Thursday.
