Heavy rain is expected to continue in North Texas through at least Friday.
The National Weather Service Fort Worth/Dallas issued a bulletin about the forecast on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the alert, daily chances for showers and storms continue Wednesday into the weekend. That rainfall will bring a threat for isolated flooding.
All of North and Central Texas will likely receive at least 1" of rain Wednesday through Friday. The greatest flood threat is expected across Central Texas, but the forecast rain amounts are still being refined.
The U.S. NWS Fort Worth Texas Facebook page posted an informational graphic about flood reporting on Tuesday. According to the post, the service is observing Texas Flood Awareness Week.
Tuesday's topic covered how to report flooding. "Whether you submit a flood report through our social media accounts or with your local officials, utilize the following guidelines to ensure that forecasters and first responders can prepare their response based on the latest observations," the post states.
When residents observe and report flooding, they should include the specific location. Where exactly is the flood? Be sure to provide intersections, mile markers, and directions/distance to a nearby city or landmark.
Additionally, reporters should describe the extent and depth of the flooding. Is it over a bridge or entering a dwelling? Note the the time of when the flooding is happening, as well as if the water is flowing rapidly or is more stagnant.
Picture reports are equally valuable, but safety is the first priority. Importantly, residents should never put themselves at risk by driving or entering flood waters. Remember the motto, "Turn Around, Don't Drown."
