According to the bulletin, scattered showers and storms will linger into Tuesday morning exiting to the southeast during the afternoon.

Brief heavy rainfall will be possible, but the greatest heavy rain threat will reside near the Texas Gulf Coast. North Texas temperatures will be in the mid 80s and low 90s.

Showers and storms are expected to return to the North Texas region late Thursday through Friday as a cold front approaches the Red River from the north.

Some storms could become strong with gusty winds and heavy rain being the main threats, but there is still uncertainty on exact timing and locations.

Residents should continue to check the NWS page for updates. It's also important to have multiple ways of receiving regional weather alerts.

In terms of temperatures, a more typical pattern will return by the middle of the week. Temperatures are expected to climb back into the 90s and humidity to increase.

Heat index values may peak around 100-105 degrees Wednesday and Thursday. Heat index values late this week into the weekend will be in the upper 90s to around 101.

The storms expected late Thursday evening and Friday will come with a temperature cool-down of a few degrees.
