The North Texas region is experiencing a hot and dry start of the week. That trend is expected to continue through the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
The National Weather Service Fort Worth/Dallas issued a bulletin about the forecast on Monday afternoon.
According to the bulletin, the start of this week brought hot, dry, and breezy conditions to North Texas, with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 90s and heat index values in the upper 90s to near 105 degrees.
Monday brought south winds around 15-25 mph with gusts near 35 mph to the area, but those gusts are expected to be lower on Tuesday.
Later in the week, the NWS expects more hot and humid weather with highs ranging from the upper 90s to near 101 degrees and heat index values around 100-105.
Outside of some low rain chances across East Texas late in the weekend, dry weather will prevail for most of the region. Overnight temperatures will remain warm with lows in the mid to upper 70s to near 80 degrees.
Make sure to prepare for the heat before spending time outdoors during the Fourth of July festivities. As always, residents should stay well hydrated and wear proper sun protection, including hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen (SPF 30 or greater).
