According to the post, a young man heard faint cries for help coming from a wooded area behind the school at approximately 5:25 p.m.

After investigating, the youth determined that the cries belonged to a young woman who had been trapped in a steep ravine for days by deep mud and sewage.

He called police, and officers responded to the area along with Dallas Fire-Rescue. In 104-degree weather, after traversing a quarter-mile of treacherous terrain, the first responders safely and successfully extricated the victim.

She was transported to a local hospital, where she was treated for severe dehydration, prolonged sun exposure, and injuries sustained during the extended entrapment.

"The Dallas Police Department would like to sincerely thank the officers, firefighters, and paramedics who took part in this rescue operation," the post states. "Your swift action and joint effort saved a young woman who was in desperate need of help."

The post notes, "The well-being of the Dallas community is not something that's handled by a single agency. It takes a collaborative effort from multiple teams and organizations working side-by-side to ensure every person's safety."
