📰 News we're reading

1. Dallas is coming after drivers in a new crackdown (latination.com) — Dallas drivers with three or more unpaid parking tickets now face bright yellow Barnacle windshield clamps instead of immediate towing, starting August 24, 2026. The city's new program aims to boost fine collection while avoiding impound hassles, with payments, deposits, and device returns handled through official Dallas channels, including a Jefferson Boulevard drop box and a dedicated support line.

2. Flock camera damaged in North Oak Cliff (fox4news.com) — A Flock license-plate camera at Jefferson Boulevard and Hampton Road in Dallas' North Oak Cliff was found knocked down, adding to at least 25 such vandalism cases since March. With roughly 670 Flock cameras deployed citywide, Dallas Police are weighing how to respond as debate grows over the surveillance system's crime-fighting role versus privacy and vandalism concerns.

3. Fletcher's Corny Dogs will cost less at this year's State Fair of Texas (wfaa.com) — Dallas families heading to the State Fair of Texas this year will see lower costs, with Fletcher's Corny Dogs now all priced under $10 and admission and parking also reduced. After sparse crowds and complaints about high prices last year, fair officials hope the new pricing will make a full day of rides, food, and fun more affordable for local visitors.

4. U.S. 75 construction is 99% complete. Here's what changes for drivers (nbcdfw.com) — Drivers in Dallas County will soon feel relief on U.S. 75, where a major expansion adding another lane between I-635 and SH 121 is now 99% complete. The $58 million TxDOT project is expected to wrap this fall, opening the previously HOV-only inside lane to more motorists during most of the day.
