Dallas Inspector General Flags $1M In Losses, Overpayments And Questioned Pay (dallasexpress.com) โ Dallas' Office of Inspector General says more than $1 million in losses, overpayments, and questionable pay have been flagged in city spending since January, with another $1.7 million under review. The interim inspector general briefed a Dallas City Council ethics committee on vendor overbilling, dual employment, payroll errors, and a fraudulent invoice, while council members pressed for stronger safeguards and better data tools.

Dallas Police Take Over Freeway Traffic Enforcement From Dallas County Sheriff's Office (irvingweekly.com) โ Freeway drivers in Dallas will now see city police, not Dallas County deputies or state troopers, handling most traffic enforcement and crash response on highways and NTTA toll roads within city limits. Dallas Police have expanded their Traffic Unit for the August 28 transition, aiming to speed crash response on major roads while keeping more patrol officers available for neighborhood calls.

3. Driver critically injured in DART train crash in Pleasant Grove area of Dallas, officials say (cbsnews.com) โ A driver was critically injured when a vehicle collided with a DART train Friday evening in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas near North Jim Miller Road and C.F. Hawn Freeway. Dallas Fire Rescue crews freed the trapped driver, halted train traffic during the response, and transported the victim to a hospital, while DART Police continue investigating the cause.

4. Church in Ferris narrowly misses major damage from Dallas County grass fire (fox4news.com) โ A fast-moving grass fire in Dallas County burned 65 acres near Wilmer and Ferris and came within about 30 yards of Patrick Baptist Church, but firefighters kept it from damaging the building or a nearby propane tank. Multiple departments, including Dallas County and Dallas Fire, worked together to contain the blaze, one of several significant grass fires burning across North Texas this week.
