• Fire Hits Sand Branch, the Dallas County Community Without Running Water (dmagazine.com) — A devastating 10-acre fire just hit Sand Branch, the unincorporated Dallas County community that has gone 41 years without clean running water and still has no fire hydrants. Residents fought flames with bottled water while firefighters doused lingering hot spots, and local advocates are urgently seeking volunteers, donations, and long-term infrastructure fixes to finally bring reliable water and safety to this historically Black freedman's town near Dallas.
