RNC Midterm Convention in Dallas: What to know about security (nbcdfw.com) — Downtown Dallas residents, workers, and visitors will face tight security and street closures around the American Airlines Center for the Sept. 9–10 Republican Midterm Convention. Law enforcement will erect fencing, checkpoints, and screening zones, restrict rideshares and deliveries, and strictly limit what bags and items you can bring, so anyone traveling near Victory Park should plan extra time and carry ID or proof of residence or employment.

Dallas breaks ground on $227 million police training center at UNT Dallas (wfaa.com) — Dallas is starting construction on a $227 million police training center at UNT Dallas, bringing a modern academy and criminal justice hub to Southern Dallas within about two years. City leaders say the project will replace outdated facilities, strengthen ties between officers and residents, and potentially attract more students and businesses to South Dallas as activity grows around the new campus.

4. 191 turtles and tortoises found in unusual shipment at North Texas FedEx office (cbsnews.com) — Nearly 200 turtles and tortoises discovered in a Denton FedEx shipment have been moved to safety at the Dallas Zoo, where they're now being cared for. City of Denton Animal Services coordinated with U.S. Fish and Wildlife, underscoring how regional partnerships, including Dallas facilities, step in when unusual animal rescues arise.
