Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:
- The first 2022 case of West Nile virus in Texas has been confirmed in a Dallas County resident. According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, there were 112 cases of the virus last year in the state with fourteen individuals dying from the virus. - The Dallas City Animal Shelter is reportedly overflowing with dogs and is asking the public to help. Residents can support the shelter by adopting and fostering the dogs. The shelter director reports that it currently has over 375 dogs within the facility and needs immediate community help to address the crisis. (CultureMap Dallas)
- The Dallas Police Department has arrested seven suspects after a chase on Monday. The department reports that the seven suspects stole a pickup truck at gunpoint and rolled the truck after clipping a school bus near Tension Parkway. None of the suspects appeared to have serious injuries, according to the department. No children were on the bus at the time of the incident. (FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth)
