Here are the top stories in Dallas today:
- Dallas' annual holiday parade returns this morning with floats, balloons, bands, and more. The festivities kick off at 10 a.m. and follow Commerce Street for about a mile from Houston Street to Harwood Street. Then, there will be live entertainment at the new AT&T Discovery stage and a festival of booths, food, and activities in the Main Street Garden. Parade-goers will be able to drop off canned food donations for the North Texas Food Bank at collection sites along the route. (FOX 4 Dallas)
- Next week (Saturday, Dec. 11), the City of Dallas will hold the first in a series of eight redistricting meetings to determine the new City Council districts. This meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. and will be accessible to the public virtually via video conference. - Isaias Perez, 34, has been arrested in connection with a fatal "road rage" shooting that happened along U.S. 75 in Dallas on Thursday. (CBS Dallas / Fort Worth)
- The Texas Health and Human Services Commission and UT Southwestern Medical Center is building the first state psychiatric hospital in Dallas-Fort Worth, which will address a large and critical gap in the region's continuum of care for those experiencing mental illness. (D Healthcare Daily)
