Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:

  1. A Thursday night crash in Dallas left one man in critical condition and another man facing intoxication assault charges. According to investigators, the incident occurred near 900 South St. Augustine Drive and involved Jose Salas, 32, driving his 2010 Cadillac Escalade into a 2006 Toyota Matrix. As of Friday afternoon, the other person involved was in surgery at a local hospital, according to reports. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
  2. Dallas' Austin Street Center is opening a new expansion to support the growing homeless population. The new expansion will be able to safely house around 500 people while the existing structure can house about half that number. The new facility will also have a full commercial kitchen to provide a place to prepare food for those staying at the shelter. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
  3. Black Restaurant Week, an eight-day food event that aims to bring awareness and business to Black-owned restaurants, has officially come to North Texas. The event kicked off yesterday and runs through Mar. 25, and seven Dallas-based restaurants are participating. Co-founders Warren Luckett, Falayn Ferrell, and Derek Robinson encourage the North Texas community to patronize a Black-owned business during the week. (Subscription: The Dallas Morning News)
