Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:

  1. A boat capsized, claiming the life of one man and causing two men to go missing. The incident occurred in Lake Lavon, about 40 miles outside of Dallas, on Saturday evening. The Collin County Sherriff's Office received a distress call near Brockdale Park about the incident. The capsizing was reportedly caused by a strong storm that crossed the lake. (Patch)
  2. Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson has failed to garner enough support to fire Dallas City Manager T.C. Broadnax. Mayor Johnson sought to fire the Broadnax over the city's permit process delays. The city council will be formally reviewing the city manager's performance later this month. (The Dallas Morning News)
  3. The U.S. Energy Secretary has told North Texas residents to expect fuel prices to continue to rise. The increase in gasoline prices is reportedly due to the rising global demand for oil and the ongoing war in Ukraine. The Biden administration is currently working to develop a way to bring down the cost of fuel — including possibly increasing refining capacity. (Patch)
