🌱 Body Camera Policy Change + Governor Meets With Dallas Mayor

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Dallas.

(Patch Media)

Hi all. It's me, Nicole Fallon-Peek, your host of the Dallas Daily — here to explain all the most important things happening in town these days. Let's do this.

First, today's weather:

Humid with a stray t-storm. High: 85 Low: 72.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Dallas who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Dallas Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:

  1. The Dallas Police Department is now requiring body cameras to be worn by all officers during approved off-duty jobs. The cameras were previously allowed for usage during off-duty jobs, but the new policy change is in direct response to a recent officer-involved shooting at a north Oak Cliff club. The three major associations within the department reportedly agree with the new policy. (The Dallas Morning News)
  2. Dallas VideoFest will be presenting the coveted Ernie Kovacs Award to former Senator Al Franken on Sep. 22. Franken is known for his comedy work with Saturday Night Live. He will be accepting the award in person at 7:30 p.m. at the Texas Theatre on W. Jefferson. The award is meant to recognize the work and career of television's greatest visionaries. (Focusdailynews)
  3. Texas Governor Greg Abbott met with Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson to discuss Texas' response to recent flooding on Tuesday. A state of disaster was declared for Dallas County and high water rescues have been routinely occurring since Monday morning. An entire summer's worth of rain fell on Dallas in one day. (WFAA.com)
