Here are the top stories in Dallas today:
- Dallas police are investigating the murder of a man whose body was found near a dumpster on Tuesday at approximately 11:00 p.m. According to the Dallas Police Department, officers responded to a call for service at 2906 Holmes Street regarding a body being dragged from the apartment complex to a dumpster. When officers arrived, they found an adult male who was unresponsive and covered with tires and trash. Dallas Fire-Rescue observed multiple gunshot wounds to the victim's body and pronounced him dead at the scene. The Dallas County Medical Examiner's office will attempt to identify the victim using fingerprints analysis. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
- Fintech in Action, an initiative dedicated to advancing the hiring, promoting, and retaining of Black employees in the financial technology industry, has doubled its number of partners and participating firms and served more than 250 students from four cities in the last year. Current FIA partners and coalition members include Dallas-based GigWage, Indianapolis-based Givelify, Loop, and more. The coalition started with 18 financial firms, community stakeholders, fintech organizations, and a $1.7 million dollar investment from Apex to directly address the pipeline issues in financial services and financial technology.(dallasinnovates.com)
- A woman in Dallas was charged with arson she used charcoal and lighter fluid to ignite a fire in a home early Saturday morning while her father and grandmother were asleep. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
