Bonham ISD Closed Until Jan. 23 After Flu Outbreak

All Bonham ISD facilities will be closed from Jan. 17 to Jan. 23 due to a number of students and faculty members affected by the flu.

BONHAM, TX — Bonham ISD announced Tuesday that the school district will be closed from Jan. 17 until Jan. 23 due to the "number of students and staff members exhibiting flu-like symptoms." According to a release from the district, local health officials recommended the seven-day break for the health and safety of students and employees.

During the closure, all school related activities, including evening events, will be canceled. School facilities and buses will be disinfected during the break.

Students and staff members are asked to avoid contact with pick persons and practice other health hygiene measures during the break

The good news for students of Bonham ISD is the unexpected break will not take away from bad weather days and will not have to be made up.

According to Dallas County Health and Human Services, complications of the seasonal flu have claimed 31 lives in the county this season.
