This August, Galleria Dallas is teaming up with To Be Like Me, a Dallas-based nonprofit organization working to encourage empathy, kindness and compassion through disability awareness programs led by people living with disabilities, to bring an educational display and interactive learning experiences to the shopping center.
The nonprofit’s exhibit will highlight common questions and offer viewers important information, including tips on etiquette for interacting with people who have disabilities, the Braille alphabet and sign-language basics – with a challenge for guests to post videos of themselves signing their names. It will be displayed on Galleria Dallas’ Gallery Wall on Level 1 near Sephora from Aug. 1-31.
Galleria Dallas shoppers can meet some of To Be Like Me’s LEADers on Sunday, Aug. 9, including Mary Sefzik, who was born blind and values sharing her perspective with others. From 1– 3 p.m., LEADers will share their knowledge about the nonprofit and engage in activities such as teaching sign language or typing in braille.
