The Centers for Disease Control has issued a new order temporarily halting evictions in counties with heightened levels of community transmission in order to respond to recent, unexpected developments in the trajectory of the COVID-19 pandemic, including the rise of the Delta variant.

The order is intended to target specific areas of the country where cases are rapidly increasing, which likely would be exacerbated by mass evictions. Tarrant County’s COVID-19 transmission rate makes it one of the counties covered by the extended moratorium.
The current order is in place until Oct. 3, 2021.

The City of Fort Worth and its partner agencies are ready to help renters complete applications for emergency rental assistance. Funding is available for rent, past due rent, utilities, past due utility payments and other housing expenses related to the coronavirus outbreak.
Renters may be eligible for help if they’ve qualified for unemployment, experienced a reduction in household income or had other financial hardship due to COVID-19.
Applications are available online along with a list of frequently asked questions. When you’re ready to get started, call 817-392-7540, make an in-person appointment or email your questions.
In addition, city staff continue to offer in-person help filling out applications for emergency rental assistance. Renters can make an appointment online. Help sessions are available at the Rise Community Center, 8201 Calmont Ave. in the Las Vegas Trail area, 3-7 p.m. Aug. 12; 2-6 p.m. Aug. 19; and 3-7 p.m. Aug. 26.
