City Of Fort Worth: Citizens Police Academy Accepting Applications

The Fort Worth Police Department will host the next Citizens Police Academy starting March 8.

The academy is a 12-week course that meets every Tuesday from 6 -9 p.m. The purpose of the academy is to give residents a working knowledge of the FWPD’s policies and procedures.

The classes, instructed by police officers, will cover aspects such as training, criminal investigations and narcotics. Particular emphasis will be placed on the field operations divisions, the part of the department with which the public comes into contact most often.

The expectation is that Citizen Police Academy graduates will gain a deeper understanding of the problems and policies facing Fort Worth police officers, and stronger relationships will be formed between officers and the community.
