In November, Fort Worth will roll out a new City Council meeting schedule that maximizes time, improves efficiency and ensures transparency.

Changes include scheduling the Council work sessions and Council agenda meetings on different weeks and setting scheduled dedicated public comment meetings for the sole purpose of hearing comments and concerns from the public.

“As we work to effectively lead a rapidly growing city, it’s important that the Fort Worth City Council schedule is set up to be efficient, strategic and transparent,” Mayor Mattie Parker said. “This new schedule will allow us to give citizens a consistent experience in giving public presentations and allow councilmembers to maximize work session and regular meeting hours.”

The Council is required by ordinance to meet at least 44 times in a calendar year.

Fort Worth had been the only large city in Texas to hold the work session and the council meeting on the same day.
