“The memory I would like to share with you is of the first time I visited East Regional,” wrote Carla Waller. “I’d just moved to Texas from Saint Louis, Mo., and I walked into East Regional Library to get my very first library card for my son and myself. I was so excited. East Regional was so grand in my eyes. It felt so good to have the library cards in my hand. Then I remember saying to myself, ‘One day I will work here.’ And here I am!!” She works as a customer service representative at East Regional.
Daniel Haase was appointed by then-Mayor Kay Granger to serve on the site selection committee. “We debated a lot about the site,” he wrote. “It was our first choice and is very prominent, which was good, but mostly there was concern as to whether people would find it. Well, they have!”
East Regional is one of the Fort Worth Public Library’s most popular locations, and is one of only three that is open seven days a week (noon-6 p.m. Sundays).
