City Of Fort Worth: Fort Worth Public Library To Host Comic Book Week For Fans Of All Ages

Comic book fans of all ages will have something to celebrate with the Fort Worth Public Library’s Comic Book Week activities this month.

The fun kicks off on Saturday, Aug. 7, with Heroes & Villains Craft Day, set for 10 a.m. to noon at four locations: Central, East Berry, Seminary South and Wedgwood. Families are encouraged to wear costumes depicting their favorite heroes or villains. Activities include creating masks, power bracelets or other accessories and creating a superhero emblem.
During the week of Aug. 9-14, visitors to the Library’s 16 locations may pick up free comic books and also kits to help make their own comic books. Supplies are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Trivia Night, Comic Book Edition is a virtual event set for 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10. Teams and individual players are invited to test their comic-book knowledge.
Learn how artists develop comic books and graphic novels with a virtual Comic Book Artist Panel discussion featuring Ben Dunn, Halo Toons and Terry Parr at 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11.
Comic Book Writers will discuss how to write and publish comic books and graphic novels during a virtual Writing and Publishing Panel set for 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12. Ben Napier, David Doub, Hector Rodriguez and Taylor Shelton King will discuss their craft.
Tune in for a fun, virtual interview as youth librarians talk with comic artist Kenny Keil. The video will be available to watch starting at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, on the Library’s YouTube channel.
The activities celebrate the annual Comic Book Day, a nationwide occasion that first happened in 2002. Typically, the day highlighting comic books and graphic novels is celebrated on the first Saturday in May, but this year it was moved to Saturday, Aug. 14.
