The Fort Worth Fire Department joins the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and others to recognize Crash Responder Safety Week, Nov. 8-14.

Emergency responders risk injury and even death by passing vehicles when responding to a roadside emergency. Crash Responder Safety Week has as its primary goal teaching emergency responders, drivers and passengers how to play their part in ensuring safe responses at roadway incident scenes.
During this Crash Responder Safety Week — and every week — slow down and move over from traffic incidents to keep professionals working to clear roadway incidents safe. Traffic incident responders also have families waiting for them.

All 50 states have Move Over laws requiring drivers to slow down and move over when they are near stationary responder vehicles, but not all drivers know they exist.
