At 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, Trinity Metro will rename and dedicate the East Fort Worth Transfer Center as the Dr. Dennis Dunkins Transfer Center.

Dunkins, a transit enthusiast, was passionate about keeping this transportation hub clean, safe and appealing for all traveling through it. Those in attendance at the dedication can expect to hear remarks honoring Dunkins, an opportunity to see the dedication monument and take photos at the transit center that was so important to him.

In addition to access to the Trinity Metro Board of Directors, executive management staff and Fort Worth City Council members in attendance, members of the Dunkins family will be present.

Dunkins served on the Trinity Metro Board of Directors for many years representing City Council District 5. He was appointed on Feb. 6, 2013, and remained on the board through September 2020. His service to Trinity Metro included participation on the Commuter Rail Committee from 2014-2020, during which he led the committee as the chairperson in 2017. He was also the board secretary from 2017-2019, served as the ACCESS Committee chair and had been active on the Scholarship Committee, TRE Advisory Committee, Rail Working Group, and the Planning, Operations and Marketing Committee.

The Dr. Dunkins Transfer Center is located at 4104 E. Lancaster Ave., in the southeast corner of East Lancaster Avenue and South Sargent Street.
