Mesquite, Texas - The City of Mesquite extends a warm invitation to dogs and their owners to partake in the joyous occasion of the 17th Annual Doggie Splash Day.

This highly-anticipated event is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 5, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Vanston Pool, located at 2913 Oates Dr. in Mesquite, according to Dallas Metro News.

Participants, both human and canine, will be granted free access to the wading and lap pools. The dogs can display their skills and charm in a variety of contests including a pet swimsuit competition, a diving contest, a paddle race, and a trick or talent showcase. Prizes await the winners.

Doggie Splash Day, under the auspices of Dallas Regional Medical Center and Pet Supplies Plus, will also feature complimentary pupsicles, available while supplies last, and a doggie selfie station for memorable snapshots.

Excitingly, this year introduces an option for pet parents to expedite their experience by pre-registering their dogs and reserving their free pupsicle at www.cityofmesquite.com/DoggieSplashDay.

Admission fees are $5 for one pet and its owner, $2 for each additional pet, and $1 for spectators. Attendees are encouraged to bring a jar of jelly, peanut butter, or seed butter to avail a $2 discount and contribute to the City's Spread the Love campaign that supports children in need in Mesquite.

It is mandatory for all participating dogs to provide proof of current vaccinations and be supervised by a responsible person aged 16 or older. Dogs that display aggressive behavior or face social challenges may be asked to exit. Lifeguards will be present to ensure safety.
